'Guess I need to bring my horse': College student's parking request gets denied, student rides horse to school

    campus are only allowed to have a parking permit if they have off campus employment. Furthermore, they must provide proof of that employment such as a recent pay stub on a quarterly basis.

    Well I didn't have a job but I had my horse. I wrote a letter explaining the situation, had the barn owner and horse owner (I only leased the horse) also write letters for me. I figured that would be fine. Imagine my

    surprise when my request was turned down. I wasn't getting paid, therefore my equine hobby was not off campus employment, and therefore I did not qualify for a parking pass.

    Here is where the wholesome compliance comes in. A couple of days before the term started and I was to move onto campus I headed to the barn. It only took me about an hour to ride my horse to the campus where I promptly stopped by campus security.

    When they asked me what I was doing I showed them my parking permit application and the denial letter. I then asked where I should put my horse because obviously, if I couldn't have a car to get off campus to take care of the horse, then the horse was moving onto campus with me.

    For some reason the granted me an exception and I received a parking permit that very day. I didn't even have to reapply at then beginning of the next quarter.
