Twitter, for all its flaws (and there are MANY), has become an important cornerstone of our culture. It has transformed from a stupid little app where Ryan Lochte could tweet "Rocks, paper, siccor........" into a platform where all kinds of important geopolitical information is disseminated. That said, I do wish we had apps that were purely stupid. Where there's no discourse, no politics, just dumb jokes. But anything and everything gets taken and run with in this day and age, and there's not much we can do about it.
Once upon a time, Vine was just that. Six seconds of stupid joke after stupid joke. But nothing good lasts forever. Who knows, Twitter might pass on sometime soon (if things continue the way they've been going), and another new thing will crop up in its place. Maybe it will be better. We can literally only dream. And read tweets in the meantime.
