Luci and Goose have been with us for a month now and didn't really care about my boyfriend and I. They would play with each other and cuddle with my dog or play with each other but never cuddle with either of us.

Recently, goose will not leave me alone. Me specifically, not my boyfriend. She follows me around, pushes her way onto my lap, or on top of whatever I'm doing, purrs and meows. And she'll meow as soon as I ignore her. At night they are locked out of the bedroom because

we need to sleep, and when I get up in the morning Goose sprints to the door and meows loudly until I come out. Then she follows me and meows until I sit down and pushes her way onto my lap.

Luci doesn't give us the time of day, but goose won't leave me alone. Is this separation anxiety? I work from home and play with them multiple times throughout the day. Both of them go on walks with my dog and I. They have plenty of toys and stimulation.

Spraying her with water or pushing her off doesn't work. She's insisting on being with me and never letting me out of her sight. She's worse than my dog, an Australian shepherd who's a stage five clinger. And when she's not laying on my lap, she needs to be touching me.

My boyfriend feeds them in the morning and afternoon, cleans their litter box, and tries to bond with them since they're his cats and the dog is mine. Please help. I used to find it endearing but now it's suffocating. And she's currently laying on my lap and arm while I'm watching the rookie, sound asleep.

I've read up a bit on it and sometimes cats can pick up on a sickness or anxiety/stress, but I just had a physical and am in perfect health. Not stressed about anything, haven't felt anxious either. Life is good. So I'm just confused. Thanks in advance.

redpen07 4 days ago She's probably just working through some stuff and maybe some trauma and needs reassurance for now that you're here, you love her, and no one is going anywhere and no one is going to hurt her. It can take some time for them to adjust. Maybe try catnip? There's also baby shirts. I've heard the sensation of squeezing/hugging from the baby shirts can help cats that have anxiety. BeeEnvironmental6736 OP- 4 days ago That makes sense. It just seemed weird that NOW it's popping up after a month and a week. We give them catnip every so often. And I've tried giving her shirts to sleep with but never actually putting a shirt on them. Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it. It's been awhile since I've had a cat and I've never had two that came from a neglectful situation. Free to a good home type thing.

griffonfarm 4 days ago In the beginning, she didn't know that you would be any different from the person who had her previously. Now, after living with you for a while, she has realized that you aren't anything like the previous person and that you saved her. She loves you and probably doesn't want to let you out of her sight.

I have some cats like this. They came from really bad situations and once they realized they were safe and home and that I would take care of them and love them, they became like my second skin and never leave me alone.

BeeEnvironmental6736 OP. 3 days ago I'm not sure what type of situation these two came from besides the fact that the woman clearly didn't want them and didn't care about them. I know I wouldn't want to be passed off to a stranger and forced to start a new life

sybann 4 days ago Lucky you - Goose has fallen in love. She'll mellow when she realizes you won't dump her. It may take some time. When she's mature enough to have sleeping time manners (they do learn if they love us - my Lucy sleeps against my back) you may want to let her join you guys - it will give her more security.
