I can't stay silent any longer: I am the friend whose job everybody is kind of confused about. To me, the series of silly little tasks I log on and complete every day are quite pedestrian, but as far as anybody outside of work is concerned my job is just 'memes'. I suppose that is all most people need to know.
To be fair, I do have a lot of acquaintances whose work is pretty self-explanatory, like being a teacher or working in sales. However, I know I'm not alone in spending my days in a role prone to being misunderstood.
It's shockingly common to have little knowledge what others in your social circle do for a living, and one friendship group had a great idea for rectifying this that went viral on TikTok recently. Conducting a 'PowerPoint presentation night' with drinks and nibbles, the sole purpose of the get-together was for everybody to explain their jobs (all work drama included). It's fair to say that most viewers were impressed by the concept.
