Handed over all the passwords and critical information, deleted my access, and moved on. For me, a normal, uneventful project like dozens of others.

Six months later (around six months ago), I get a message from my sister-in-law that this director has been slandering me to MY OWN FAMILY. She had been telling them I did a job, and that I had locked her out of her website, and was messing with her data.

This is demonstrably false. The website was constantly updated during that time frame, and since.

Three weeks ago I get a request from their accounting department for a W9 and tax information. I told them to off, there is no way I would help them after what this director had done.

I get a call a few minutes later. And long story short, its the directors manager. It turns out, her non-profit is part of a larger organization. She is accountable to people other than the board.

He asks me what happened, asks for it in written form. And it was part of the information used to get her fired.

Slandering me to my family was a massive breach of professionalism, not to mention crazy. Who does stuff like that?

The irony is, she is telling everyone that this is a hostile take-over, that she has done nothing wrong, and is playing the victim like a pro. The legal proceedings are still happening, yet the writing is on the wall.

WorthThanks1314 OP 2 hr. ago Except for my hurt ego, there was no real damage done. My family understood what was happening. And since the non- profit does legitimately help people in need, I didn't want to mess with that. So I s it up.

Fun part is, the director that fired her ... it looks like I may be hired to do development for all 18 of their non-profits. There are some different initiatives in the works, but its still up in the air.
