Welcome ladies of the internet. I think I speak for all of us when I say thank goodness we live in 2024, where it's not completely taboo or shamed to acknowledge the female body. There was a time when women could barely talk about their periods, their changing bodies, or their needs regarding these things. Going to the store to buy something like pads or tampons had a cloud of mystery on top of it; always inconspicuously hiding the fact that you need to buy them, or looking away awkwardly when the cashier goes to scan them. 'That's for my friend…not mine.' Why were we so programmed to feel ashamed about our womanly bodies? As one astute Redditor puts it, 'you don't see this kind of shame to buy toilet paper.'
I'm happy to say that it's not only women who are on board for taking the shame off of our bodies, but men have joined in celebration as well! Good on you, guys. Ironically being worshiped for our female forms, and simultaneously shamed. Here's to a new world of real equality.
