Every penny counts, according to this customer.
A debate stirs up every few years over the abolishment of the penny. The humble one-cent coin is rather useless in today's day and age. Gone are the days of penny candy---even dollar stores are quickly becoming $3-$5 stores. There's very little you can purchase for a dollar, and with the current rate of inflation, there's little hope that it'll improve any time soon. Back to the penny debate: every so often, people will petition to get rid of the penny, citing how unnecessary it is. Other people advocate for getting rid of coins altogether. Pennies are so useless that apparently some people will throw them out instead of spending them!
With that said, u/TrashGoblin2_0 shared a story of what happened when one customer thought she was being overcharged by a single cent. As a high schooler working at a fast food location, this teenager was just doing their job. But that explanation wasn't enough for the customer, who demanded to speak to the manager over this minor offense.
