These days we all think that everyone's out to get us and—to be fair, well… we're not always wrong and some people are. There are plenty of entitled and selfish people in this world, who won't hesitate to twist any situation to their benefit and gain, carefully manipulating their way into getting the upper hand—no matter the circumstances. And yet, it's still important to remember that there are still honest folk out there; folk who want to do the right thing for the simple good and honest fact that doing the right thing is the right thing to do.
Unfortunately, when you work a job or a trade that has a notorious reputation for taking advantage of their clientele, you're going to be met with a hearty helping of suspicion no matter how honest you try to be—and you'd be surprised just how often this occurs. Now, no one is going around accusing a writer of anything untoward—other than telling us how silly we are and accusing us of being AI.

No, but having worked a past life in a bike shop, I can tell you just how untrusting people are. A concerning number of people will come to you with a problem and when you tell them what that problem is, they'll decide that they'd rather continue riding their verifiable safety hazard of a bike than spend one single cent having it repaired.
For honest car mechanics, this is no different, being met with constant skepticism any time they utter a word to their clients, who have been conditioned to be constantly on edge when being told what work needs to be done to their car and when they receive their bill. This mechanic was rudely confronted by a customer who demanded to be told what was wrong with her car in more simple terms; he complied but she wasn't happy about that either.
