There are a lot of scenarios in movies and TV shows in which a person is opposed to the removal of some kind of landmark, like an old tree or a historical building, and to stop the destruction of it, they do something extreme. Something like tying themselves to said landmark, or organizing a protest with other people in order to stop its removal. Though it might be a funny moment for television, it is intriguing to know whether this types of situation actually happen in real life.
Well, I can give you the answer to that, because the person in this Reddit story tried to do just that. During a windy day, a tree in a neighborhood was dangerously close to falling on top of people's houses. Because of that, it was decided that the tree must be taken down immediately. The next day, when the service that takes down trees arrived, they were stopped by one of the neighbors who started protesting and hugging the tree. I wish I could say it was one of those heroic moments you see on TV, but it seems like this guy was just trying to cause some trouble.
