The housing market is bonkers. Whether you claim to know what you're doing (realtor) or if you're admittedly a newbie (first-time homeowner), none of us stand a chance against the behemoth megalodons that bought property back in the '70s when an acre of beachfront land cost $10k, two stones, and a handshake. Although we're all just doing our best to get by, if you're ever one of the lucky few that escapes a lifetime of being a renter, know this–you either perish as a renter or you live long enough to see yourself become the landlord. Heed my warning.
Regardless of your current landlordian status, if you were able to lock in your mortgage at 2.75% you're the king who's looking down on all of the peasants in the valley, knowing that your current home (regardless of its dilapidated state) will now be your forever home. Yay?! So if you are a homeowner embracing the ups and downs of remodeling, hardware store visits, and the HOA, the next meme collection is for you.
Let us lament together with our volatile investments because, unlike our parents' generation, we'll be living in this one-bedroom apartment until our golden years–but at least we won't be lining the pockets of some other landlord.
