When there's drama between a mother and her daughter-in-law, it puts the husband in a very difficult position. Imagine having to choose between your mother and your wife…not a favorable position. We don't envy you. 

The essence of the problem is more in line with the relationship of the two women. When your mother and wife don't get along, it's already a problem. I don't know about you, but it was always my priority in any relationship to be close with the family, to show them my best side and keep the peace. Some people may not agree, or some personalities may not correlate to this ideal. 

And what about the husband? As loyal as you are to your family and parents as children, as you grow into an adult, you should always side with your wife (within reason of course). So through all the ups and downs of decision making in relationships, have one priority and stick with it. But at least it gives for a good read.
