'She didn't even like Aragorn?': Man questions his entire marriage after sharing Lord of the Rings with his unimpressed wife

Like the billowing majesty of Gandalf's beard, the Lord of the Rings saga is not to be trifled with. True LOTR fans have no leniency when Middle Earth is threatened by real-world haters, but when this type of slanderous mystique comes from inside your own home, what's a true LOTR fan to do? 

In our next story, a Lord of the Rings fan is faced with a tough realization after sharing The Fellowship with his wife. After only a few moments, her disinterest turned into callus anger, and by the end of the movie she called it 'the longest, most meaningless movie'. Struck in the heart like Faramir asking Denethor if he loved him, the man was completely shaken. No amount of therapy can fix such a mean comment, but apparently, having a spouse who doesn't share your interest in the lore of Hobbiton, Rivendell, and Mordor is fairly common.

    As an aside, I really hate when people confuse "good" with "what I like" and vice versa. It's perfectly fine for them to say they didn't enjoy the movie, they didn't like it, or it's not for them. But to " is just factually call it "meaningless wrong.

    . dorgoth12 1 day ago While I love the trilogy and even like the hobbit films more than most people, I know plenty of people who just fundamentally don't connect with this kind of high fantasy. And sitting them down for 3+ hours for something they can't connect with is a fruitless task.

    xvf9 1 day ago • Yup. My ex was like this with sci fi. Like, the second something hovered she was just taken out of the movie instantly. Sucks for her, but I think we take for granted how consuming sci-fi/fantasy as kids preconditions us to just accept whacky stuff in a film. If you've really only watched movies based in the real world then like magic or mystical creatures can be really jarring.

Pointless because it's just some strangers playing with a ball. You can't really convince people otherwise, it's kinda just how they're wired.

    LilSlice Revolution 1 day ago I'm surprised by this too but I know people are just different about discussing movies. But every LOTR fan I've ever met rewatches those movies (and extended cuts) regularly so I'd be surprised that it took so long for her to see it if he's that type of fan.
