It's 2024, if you have an entitled manager, quit. We're not standing for this sort of behavior from people in leadership roles anymore. Ten minutes late to a job that has nothing to do with saving lives should not entitle any sort of reprimand. If you're a manager who thinks it does, then YOU are the problem.
Reddit user mikemojc recently commented on a Reddit thread sharing his experience while working at a call center. These phone bank kinds of jobs have a nefarious reputation, so it's no surprise that he had a Karen manager. He did his job well and was never late except once when there was an automobile accident on his route to work. He was not even 10 minutes late, but he still received a reprimand. So, to keep things fair, he made sure that he was working his specific hours and only his specific hours. That means if he was in the middle of something important at work, but then the clock struck 5, he was done. He was so done, that he even cut himself off mid-sentence while on a work call. When his Karen manager asked him what happened, he played dumb and added that he didn't want to break her strict rule about “time theft.” Read the entire satisfying malicious compliance below!
