I believe in radical honesty. I generally abide by the rule that it's better to tell the truth than anything else. Even if the truth hurts to hear or hurts to tell, you can rest easy knowing everything is out in the open. As school teachers often say, “Honesty is the best policy.†But telling the truth is annoying sometimes. Often, I tell lies out of sheer convenience. If the truth is too complicated to explain to a stranger, I will tell a white lie that glazes over the nitty-gritty reality.
You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get people to understand that I make meme lists for a living. I get it. It's a weird job. So sometimes I'll just lie and tell people I'm an English teacher. They don't usually have follow-up questions. But in general, radical honesty all the way down. Especially when it comes to memes.
