A Hobbit's Helping of 27 Lord of the Rings Memes to Scroll Over Second Breakfast (April 11, 2024)

I was a shrimp in my public school days and although I was small, I grew quick and tenacious. Interestingly enough, I wasn't tall and graceful like the other kids, but I could climb a tree, hide in small spots, and boy, could you toss me. Like Bilbo, I was perfectly suited for airborne acrobatics at the hands of a big person, I was deftly small and agile, and you could always count on me to be a tactical advantage in a stealth game. Hobbit lore from Lord of the Rings always stuck with me for this reason–if Bilbo, Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin could still go out and be adventurous like the tall people, what was stopping me?

Inevitably, I grew out of my small fry stage, but as an adult, I appreciate the bravery of the halflings in LOTR. Not only to they tackle the biggest problem in Middle Earth (is: the One Ring of Power that was poised to tip the scales of the balance between good and evil), but the Hobbits were just like everyday folk. Like many of us, they were 'safe' from the dangers in their perfect oasis, but even still, got called up to be the heroes of the universe. With centuries of being overlooked, these Hobbits certainly earned the respect of all of Middle Earth, simply because they leaned into their strengths instead of focusing on their weaknesses.

So go fourth, fellow Tolkien fans! Follow in the footsteps of our favorite characters and show the world what it means to be a Hobbit.
