I have yet to meet parents who respect their kid's boundaries. My mom for one, is a lovely person, but she doesn't have a respectful bone in her body. She'll tell the whole neighborhood about my dating life, despite my many pleas to not do that. She'll also show up unannounced at my apartment in the evenings. It's especially frustrating if I have a date over. Finally, she went through all my drawers and even read my journal when I was a teenager. As I said, zero boundaries.
Some parents can be really overbearing, but to what extent? Do your parents show up at your house, unannounced? Do they dump your younger sibling at your empty apartment? Clean your kitchen, mow the lawn, fix your dripping sink? Some of that may seem helpful, but it's not if they don't have your permission.
One person took to Reddit to complain about her overprotective parents who kept doing all of these things. They were totally fed up with having their boundaries stomped on, and rightfully so. Next, check out this server who disciplined a customer's child.
