Guys, it happened! One of the things that is the punchline of a popular absurdist Simpsons meme appeared in real life! For two brief nights, the aurora borealis was no longer localized entirely within Seymour Skinner's kitchen. Pretty much everybody with two working eyes and a connection to the outside world has been informed of the major solar storm that happened this weekend, and its coolest side effect has been bringing the Northern Lights to parts of the planet that would never usually see them.
Naturally, this worldwide wonder of the solar system has prompted endless pictures of the pretty colors in the sky on social media. Sunset photos? So out for 2024. This has also encouraged a deluge of amusing memes and posts on what may well have been a once-in-a-lifetime event that millions of people got to witness together. Yeah, I'm not bitter that I missed it at all.
