"My boyfriend said I'm being unreasonable and this might jeopardize his [relationship] with his boss"

So, I've been with my boyfriend for about 4 years and we at least take one trip per year. This year we've decided to go on trip in May (we live in Russia and May holidays are pretty huge here, these are national holidays the offices and everything must be closed). I've
  • 03
booked the tickets, the hotel and everything was ready all we had to do was travel and my boyfriend messaged me saying 3 days before the trip that his boss is not allowing him to be on the trip. cause there's some huge sport game and my boyfriend is responsible for organising it (again. it's not even work...it's a game!!)...
  • 04
My boyfriend says he can't argue with his boss cause he's a pretty big deal and my boyfriend is trying to establish himself in the company. I then demanded that my boyfriend's boss refunds me every penny I already spent on this trip and an explanation of why he can't let my boyfriend go on a trip.

My boyfriend says I'm being unreasonable and this might jeopardise his relation with his boss. I told the same that if this doesn't happen our relationship would also be in danger. He says I'm being unreasonable and he's trying to build a career. AITA here?

Note: Maybe it got lost in translation but I didn't contact the boss directly or had talked anyone of his colleagues...I asked my boyfriend to ask the boss for a refund and also if this gives some perspective, my boyfriend has been working in that company for a month now without pay (yes, without pay-the boss said that he would start paying after my boyfriend makes a big sale) and I was the one who paid for this trip with my savings cause we deserve a break.

wtshiz 1 day ago ESH, you probably will hurt his career but you are not wrong for not being OK with this, he is wrong for allowing it, and the boss is wrong for even asking him to cancel his vacation at the last minute for something outside his normal work duties.

sinloxie 1 day ago YTA- While I agree you have every right to be upset, throwing a tantrum and jeopardizing your bfs job is an unreasonable response. You doing this says 'I care more about my vaca being ruined than my BFs position and his future'

superjudy1 1 day ago YTA The boss doesn't owe you anything. Your issue is with the boyfriend.

pudge-thefish 1 day ago. YTA it is your boyfriend who owes you this money, not his boss...put the blame where it belongs

Tatterededges123 1 day ago YTA. Rule 1. Don't book non- refundable tickets to anything/anywhere until the leave is confirmed.

You're forcing your BF to make a choice between you and his job. Hopefully he chooses the job because your attitude is pretty awful. I get that you're annoyed/frustrated/disa ppointed whatever, but messing with his employment is way out of line.

. asifinperson 1 day ago YTA, your boyfriend is the problem. Yes, his boss is an AH as well, but your boyfriend should either stand up to his boss, explain to you why he has to be there, or pay you back the money.
  • 14
You going to the boss makes you the AH. This isn't your job, you're not his employee, he will laugh at you and then ignore you. And you may find your relationship is over, too.

PlateOk3803 · 1 day ago edited 1 day ago YTA BF is an for not saying to his boss about him already having plans. Did he put in for time off? Or is everyone just off and people take vactions.
  • 16
You DO NOT have a right to demand money from his boss. You will cost him his job. If this is the hill you want to die on. Congratulations, you're single.
  • 17
Take a friend with you instead. Ask for a contribution to the trip and have fun.

Low-Passion6182. 1 day ago YTA. He can't control what his boss wants but to threaten him that his relationship with you will be in danger is major AH moves. He's in a bind. It's not like he doesn't want to go. Empathy. Look it up. You need that in your life.

Darth_buttNugget. 1 day ago I mean good luck getting the boss to pay. Are you sure your bf actually asked for the time off? Seems weird that they'd spring this on him last minute. Besides, why stay with a person that chooses career over you? What a lame duck. NTA
