The 9-5 pace is one of the cruel realities for the contemporary worker. Though in some ways it has become less relevant than ever (with the advent of remote work and other technological advances offering more flexibility), it remains the core around which most folks revolve. And it seems arbitrary in some ways. It's just something that's stuck around since the industrial revolution and we haven't really shaken it off. 

Some folks hate it, some folks are comfortable with it. But it's all about attitude and lifestyle. If you're a person who thrives on structure and routine, a 9-5 gig can help you find meaning and ease. But if you are easily frustrated by monotony, then it might drive you up the wall.
