Mother's Day weekend isn't fun for everybody. Your mom might live thousands of miles away, robbing both of you of the chance to hang out with each other and celebrate her. You might be living without a mother or a grandmother, which made you spend all of Sunday mourning and missing them.
Unfortunately, not everyone has a great relationship with their mother. Mothers are often given the benefit of the doubt by a society that expects children to have endless gratitude towards them. But if you're no-contact or thinking about going no-contact with your mom, Mother's Day can be an incredibly tricky holiday. You might receive a barrage of messages from your mother criticizing you for not succumbing to her demands. Even if you're in contact with your mom, that doesn't mean she has nice things to say to you. These parenting texts are anything but normal, happy, and indicative of a healthy parent-child relationship.
