‘You can’t order whatever you want': Long Distance Romance Turns South after Restaurant Trip Leads Girlfriend to Overspend at Man’s Expense

Money is always the leading factor in breakups, and this case is no different.

A long-distance romance reached a crossroads after 2 years. A man was visiting his girlfriend and her 3 kids for what was supposed to be a happy step towards a more committed future. However, the visit threw their compatibility into question fairly quickly. The girlfriend, struggling financially to raise her kids, was allowed to order full meals and large drinks at restaurants, knowing they likely wouldn't even finish it. Unfortunately, this clashed deeply with the man's values of frugality and minimizing waste. He was used to paying during their visits and usually didn't have a problem with it, but he sensed there was a pattern of wasteful spending that began to make him really uncomfortable.
