"Ladies don't always get credit for the work they do": Dad sets record straight when daughter says she would rather be Mommy for a day because "she does less work" in heartwarming reel

Welcome, citizens of the web! From domestic chores to scientific discovers, women's work often gets overlooked. Famously, Rosalind Franklin independently discovered the double helix structure of DNA by managing to take the first picture of a strand. Her male colleagues saw the picture and published “their” research before she got a chance and got all the credit and even won the Nobel Prize for it. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated event, and still happens to this day.

Even outside of male-dominated work spaces, women's effort is taken for granted. Husbands and children get used to living in a clean home, having food prepared, and having many of the details of their lives sorted “behind the scenes." However, Instagram creator Kier Gaines is not that type of husband; he sees and appreciates all of the effort that his wife puts into making his life and the life of their children as comfortable as possible. He recognizes the hard work and dedication it takes, and he wants his children to acknowledge it too. Scroll down to see his reaction when his daughter responds that she'd rather be Mommy for a day because “she does less work.”

This is such a great point. He's allowing his daughter to work it out for herself by reflecting on her own experiences. She's a girl who works hard, so one day, she will be a woman who works hard.

I love that he doesn't start out by pointing out the more obvious domestic chores. Sure, she might see her mom cleaning the house or doing this dishes, but things like planning events and coordinating holidays gifts take a lot of effort and very often go unnoticed. It isn't uncommon for moms to wake up on Christmas Day to an empty stocking while their husbands and kids enjoy a well-thought-out assortment of gifts.

Mommy isn't just clicking a button and ordering things from Amazon. She takes a mental note of how the kids are growing out of their clothes, which items are worn, and what types of styles their kids like and are comfortable in.
