We each have a path to our hearts, we each know that there are some things that simply melt away any armor or percausions we put on ourselves when we feel like our hearts need to be protected. We may feel like we need to step away, to put some distance between us and other people, so we wouldn't get hurt.
Whether it happens because of something that happened to us in the past, or simply because that is the way we grew up to become, everyone needs that special person who can help them step out of that armor, and find love.
For the pawdorable stray cat in this story, all he needed was a determined hooman who believes he deserves to be loved. Even though he refused to let her near him, and it looked like he never even experienced hooman love, she did not give up on him for one second. She took care of him, gained his trused, and allowed him to open up to her on his terms.
