Animal Crossing and Crocs are Collabing in an Unholy Nerdy Union

If you weren't aware, Crocs are making a comeback. As a Millennial that witnessed the rise and fall of the original Jibbitz obsession in the mid-2000s, I couldn't believe my eyes when I started seeing more and more people wearing them in real life in 2025. They are no longer exclusively worn by dads cracking open a cold one while having a summer cookout. I've spotted elementary schoolers trading Jibbitz outside of Crocs stores at the mall like its 2006 all over again; I've come across mullet-wearing, tatted-up hipsters slinking around in them at the local brewery. In fact, I, myself, am one of those mulleted youngsters who bought into the rebooted Crocs hype and now owns a pair of the platform variety; they're not as trendy as Labubus or Dubai Chocolate, but the nostalgic shoe brand is definitely back in the public eye.

Much of Crocs's recent success is, in part, thanks to their multiple collaborations with celebrities and big brands. They've managed to cover all conceivable bases by doing partnerships with literally everything under the sun: Balenciaga, Naruto, SpongeBob, Pringles, and Justin Bieber, to name a few. The designs birthed by these collabs are incredibly clever; they are not limited to themed Jibbitz and Croc color. Plenty include unique redesigns of the shoe itself. For example, the Wednesday collaboration included a pair of Crocs designed to look like a platform Oxford.

Crocs have done plenty of collabs with Nintendo in the past. It's not hard to find officially-licensed Pokemon Jibbitz, and there's even Mario-themed light-up Crocs on the market. And now, on July 15th, 2025, the dynamic duo will unveil a line of Animal Crossing Crocs for gamers who dream of a summer full of shaking trees, digging for fossils, and catching an obscene amount of sea bass. So, mark your calendars, and head to your local Crocs store because you won't be able to buy these clogs at Nook's Cranny!
