Baffled man complains that girlfriend won't pay more rent after spending $400 a month on clothes and cosmetics: '[she] says I should be paying since girl tax costs her so much'

At what point does a woman's beauty routine become 'high maintenance'? There are some men who would argue anything more than using 3-in-1 in the shower is truly la-di-da, but the fact is that if you're female, you are often expected to put in a lot more money and effort for your appearance to meet the baseline of what society deems acceptable.

By the same token, there are definitely women out there who find that how they look is a very pricey obsession. Those skincare products, nail appointments, and designer purchases all add up fast. 

This is an issue that one man recently complained about on the internet, after finding that his girlfriend who he had lived with for six months was not paying her share of the living expenses because of the large amount of money she was spending on her appearance. Some people wondered why she couldn't just cut down, but others pointed out the dude might not be too happy if she stopped her upkeep, either. Whatever you might think, money issues are not something that can be ignored in a relationship.

Follow @lapsedheretic i feel pretty strongly that women should Just Say No to the level of vanity and the never-ending project of striving for instagram-model hotness that drives these types of spending habits, but i think you could easily blow through $400/mo on makeup if those are your values
