Game tickets I claimed were given away

If it were just any regular season I'd only be mildly annoyed, but I'm actually pretty majorly infuriated right now.

Back in February I attended a benefit function where I bought a bunch of raffle tickets to put in a box to win 4 100-level seats to any Atlanta Falcons game this upcoming season. (Edited to add-I won the tickets.)

Before they even announced the exact date, I submitted my request for the Chiefs game. (Mid march) My boyfriend is from KC and has been the biggest Chiefs fan since he was a child. I mean huge fan. Our house is covered in Chiefs gear.

At the time, the lady who donated the tickets said “Done! We get the tickets in our account in July, just send me a reminder and I'll transfer them to you."

Well, this morning I was cleaning out my desk and my boyfriend saw the envelope with the contact info on it and reminded me to email her. As he was walking out the door, he said he'd break up with me if

I waited too long to get the tickets. (I know he was just playing, but he will still be so mad at me.) I emailed her the reminder, and she wrote back, "Sorry, my

husband has already given those tickets away, pick another game." Long story short, we're screwed. I asked if he could get the tickets back since they were already promised to us, but she

said no. We can only get them if the other people decide they can't go. What are the chances of that? I dread him coming home from work, I really don't want to have to tell him. It will be ugly.

WittyAndWeird. 14 hr. ago So, she doesn't even have the tickets yet, right? Because they don't go into her account until July? So she's still in possession of them no matter who her husband told could have them. They should go to you.

    • LipstickBandito · 11 hr. ago What she meant is she already pre-sold them to somebody else. She owes OP similar value tickets to that game.

. brilliant_nightsky · 16 hr. ago I would notify the charity that benefited from the auction. You notified the donor immediately and it was her job to give you the tix. This is a bait and switch if I ever saw one. I would blast that woman until she paid for the best tix to the game you chose.

Magnolia05 OP. 16 hr. ago Yeah, they are apparently given the tickets from the stadium every year, I'd be willing to bet money either the husband wants them for himself, or sold them for a boatload of money, since the

Chiefs have been such a big deal the past few years. Ive been daydreaming of next year when I see the raffle box for the same tickets (they donate them every year), adding an asterisk to the sign and note that says "*Unless Mr.X decides to give the tickets

that were promised to you to someone else." Haha. They donate a lot of money and professional services to the charity every year, so I don't think raising a stink about it would get me very far.

sendmeadoggo · 15 hr. ago I think it would, what you bought is was not what you received, thats called fraud and its kinda a big deal. The FTC regulates this kind of stuff and they dont take lightly to this.

Magnolia05 OP · 16 hr. ago I get what you're saying, but personally it wouldn't be worth it. It's a small organization that I am off and on very involved with, and making a fuss would most likely burn some bridges that would make me very sad. I will definitely say something in confidence to the lady who runs the show next time I see her, though.

kiwimuz · 15 hr. ago They owe you the tickets to that game - no excuses. They had no right to give them away so must recover them from whom ever they were given to. On the basis you have an email/message trail you can definitely take this further.

Magnolia05 OP · 15 hr. ago Yeah, I asked her if they could get the tickets back from the person they sent them to, and she said no, unless they decide they can't go.

ThrowRA662849 · 12 hr. ago You need to escalate this. It's not July yet she still doesn't have the tickets and she told you yes FIRST so those tickets aren't actually gone. I wouldn't be taking them saying no for an answer.
