Sometimes, we look at our lives, at all the pets surrounding us, all the toys and silly items that we buy them and think to ourselves… "we're living in the right moment historically, because there is no way we would have been able to obsess over our pets like this at any other time in history." And then, we remember that we're wrong. Because the love that humans have for animals transcends time, and you only need to see some vintage photos of pets to realize it.

Did you know that navy cats use to have tiny hammocks on the ships they sailed - because yes, everything in that sentence is true. Did you know that pets have been leaving their marks throughout history - literally - for the longest? Did you know that in 1867, someone made a book all about dogs, and that because of that, we now have some of the coolest comparison pictures of dogs 100 years ago and now? We can see many, many changes in these breeds that have happened over the years. Some good, some bad, some cute, some unfortunate, some that are evolutionary and some that are… lessons to be learned for us in the future about breeding.

But one thing that has not changed over the years is how much we love all of these doggos. They may change, and we may be angry about how some of those changes came about, but those changes are not the dogs' faults, and we we love them all the same no matter how they change in another 100 years.
