So we're going on 3 weeks now this (assumed) 3 month old kitten has come to my patio. I've fed her, gave her water every night since she came meowing at me. It's now at the point where I'm bringing her into my apartment patio at night. We have lake here with gators in it. Florida... lol and it's been storming and rainy so I like to be sure she's out of the elements somewhat. She's very sweet, loves being pet, bakes biscuits on my belly and drools like no other while doing so. Not sure what this

The issue is: I have 2 dogs. A crippled poodle terrier who is the queen, and a 9 month old pitbull who is the queens protector. The poodle doesn't mind her. The pitbull just stares her down and waits for her to move. I've tried to introduce them and pitbull got too close and she swiped him and hissed.

I've posted on local groups and had my apartment complex send out a lost kitten email to no avail.

I now feel like I'm responsible for this baby's well-being. Ive hated cats my entire life. Almost despised them. But this little thing has changed my entire outlook on cats. I want to keep her, but not sure how to go about this. I feel like I'm already connected to this baby. Pet parents will understand this lol

Any advice? I should probably start at the vets office and get her scanned, fixed, and probably some shots? If this is a wild cat, will it be prone to attack me in my sleep?! Lol

Jesse RyanUSA OP. 5 days ago I'm slowly convincing myself to try and make this work. I'm in the thought process right now of "no one else can take care of her better than I can!” Lol she's chosen me for a reason. A man in his 30's who's hated cats for 30 years and has sworn to never own one. I think this is the universe trying to teach me a thing or 2 about these angels!!

I'm going to first get her scanned, fixed, and shots. Then I'm really thinking of keeping her. I just don't know how to care for a cat or what they expect of me! Dogs, they're simple. Cats... I've heard stories lol

UPDATE: I now have a daughter named Salem. Thank you all for your advice and input. I have made my master bathroom into her kingdom for now. Lots of toys, scratch pads, bed, water and food! Cat Nip toys as well from Publix! During the day, I let her roam around the master bedroom and keep the blinds open for her to get a good view during the day. Keeping my pitbull and poodle terrier separate from her. They have the living room, she owns my bedroom for the time being.

She seems very happy. Playing with her toys, but she does not want to leave my side lol I have to look down and make sure I'm not stepping on her!

A local private rescue and cat boarding woman will be taking her for a week next week as I go to California for vacation. During that time, she will be getting fixed, vaccinated, dewormed, and a vet check up. We'll also be scanning her for a chip, and if not chipped, I'll chip her and she will officially be MINE.

I am nervous. But most of all I am happy that this baby is happy and comfortable!

Jesse Ryan USA OP 3 days ago I am cuddling with this baby every night. I've gotten her at least 100 toys (I went toy crazy), scratch pads, a nice big bed, and a fancy litter box. I have her in my bathroom at night so the dogs can sleep with me, then during the day she roams free in my master bedroom. I'm slowly letting the dogs sniff her through the door. Being she's running free in the bedroom, they also get to sleep on her "scent" so I'm hoping this will get them used to this new queen!

She's going with a private rescue next week while I'm on vacation and they are going to scan her for a chip, if no chip, they'll chip her, fix her, deworm meds, and give her shots. So when I get back home, this little baby will be ready to live a happy and very spoiled life safe from any gators or outside creatures for as long as she lives. I work from home so she's going to get all the lovin's and cuddles every day!
