If you've been the victim of your older sibling telling you a falsehood you believed for decades, you may be entitled to compensation. Surely these people must've had that experience, since a lot of them grew up believing things like "horses lay eggs" or "you should stare into the sun for health reasons." If not for an older sibling messing with their head, maybe some people just didn't pay attention in school, or were misled by some kind of movie or TV show. There are clearly lots of reasons why someone might not be knowledgeable about a subject, and it's really funny every time.

People responded to u/aaronxr's question on the r/AskReddit sub. They shared that they had a coworker who refused to drink that ever-important liquid, water. That's right, instead of drinking water, that dude sipped on tea day and night, perhaps not realizing the two ingredients that create a cup of tea. Hmm. He's not the only one… It's not uncommon to meet someone who only drinks juice or soda because they don't like water, and were apparently just never told to do otherwise. At least we have the internet, a free resource to find almost any information! Not that the water-haters of the world will change their minds.
