Classless couple steals tray of food from neighborhood barbecue while everyone else is eating: 'It was the tackiest thing I've ever seen in real life'

Bringing To Go Containers to a Party My neighborhood had a summer block party and folks brought something to share and then we all grilled out with hot dogs and hamburgers.
  • 02
A couple shows up who weren't a part of the original invites but invited by someone else not a part of the planning. No biggie really, it's only a couple folks and there's plenty of food.
  • 03
About an hour after food hit the buffet, people are still arriving, folks are still eating. This couple decides to leave early, they pull out a to go container and take what's left of one of the sides, not only the one they brought mind you which they also took with them. There's enough it probably would have fed 6 more people.

It wouldn't have been a big deal if everyone had gotten their fill and it was towards the end of the party, it only irked me since not every person was done eating and seemed really inconsiderate.

Apprehensive-Care20z. 19 hr. ago You should have gone over to them and just said "Please don't start taking food away, lots of people haven't eaten yet". and embarrass them so much that they just leave.

Onlytoupvotemyhubs OP 19 hr. ago I really should have. I was so taken aback at what I was seeing, it was done and over before I got my bearings back. Next time though.

tractorcrusher · 17 hr. ago . • edited 17 hr. ago I went to a funeral once and this random cousin of somebody was there from out of town, with her teenage girl and boy. The teenage girl was dressed super inappropriate, black mini skirt, low cut, with stripper heels.
  • 09
Anyway, after the funeral we went to the family's house for a meal and those random people were there. Someone had ordered a big spiral cut Honeybaked Ham for everyone, which paired with the sides was enough food for everyone there.

This trashy family from out of town said they need to make the drive home and they're going to make a to go plate. Nobody was watching and eventually they left with a container.
  • 11
We go get the food out for everyone to make plates and the ham was 100% gone, carved down to the bone. It was just a big box with a bone left in it. The family hadn't touched any of the sides, they just packed up the ham and hit the road. There wasn't even enough meat on the bone to make a stew out of it.

It was the tackiest thing I've ever seen in real life, but made for a good story. AFAIK that was the last time the family ever spoke to that cousin.

Polkawillneverdie81. 17 hr. ago In situations like this, it is PERFECTLY okay to say "Hey guys, that food is for everyone and the party is still going on. Leftovers go to whoever brought that dish. It's not okay to take more than your share. Please stop putting it in to-go containers. Thanks." You can say this in front of everyone.

A manager (who did not bring the fruit salad) turned her nose up at everything else people brought, and took the entire fruit salad, bowl and all, to her office to eat. Said she brought something in and she wasn't going to be eating anything else, so deserved it.

This is far, far down the list of reasons people wanted to sock her, but it didn't help.

Angela_Snow. 19 hr. ago Nope. If u don't bring anything, don't take anything, thats a cookout rule. Especially when theres still people arriving g and eating. af

Onlytoupvotemyhubs OP. 19 hr. ago I'll clarify they did bring an item to share which they also took back with them along with the other side. So we were down two sides

KTO-Potato 18 hr. ago • My parents used to love throwing backyard BBQs for the friends and family. My trashy BiL's family started showing up with Tupperware and leaving an hour after food was dropped with full containers. My parents ended up just not hosting parties anymore.
