No matter which way you slice it, being an intern is the worst. You're the lowest on the hierarchal totem pole, you have a myriad of odd jobs, and it seems like everyone is trying to haze you with pointless futility. As if breaking into your career wasn't high enough, hazing is pretty common in most fields, especially when status is at stake. 

For the Redditor in our next story, an intern in the medical field, he was shocked by the lengths that fellow doctors would go to prove that they had higher standing than him. Following a grueling internship for over a year, the original poster was tasked with returning to all of his previous departments, begging for a signature from the senior staff leader to prove his completion of their specialities. It seems simple enough, right? Well, when every department head is trying to steamroll the newbies, a 2-second signature is tough to coerce.

    babamum 19h ago I did this at a mechanics. They "didn't have" a courtesy car for me to use. It was raining so I wasn't keen to walk anywhere. So I sat in the waiting room with my dog and made it clear I'd be there all day til my van was fixed.

    Then, just like that, they had a courtesy car available. I hadn't intended to pressure them, I just didn't want to go out in the rain! But just waiting worked very well for me.

    offGRID5 18h ago Regardless of their skill and knowledge, people with power in educational institutions that are willing to do this to people are bottom feeding scum and deserve no comfort in life at all. (clearly I have some issues to work through in therapy).
