'I'm not coming back': Toxic boss cancels employee's shift last minute despite employee's 1.5-hour commute

    I've had enough. After working for 7 months for an employer who threatened to 1099 me because I asked for less hours (I'm a FT student), and constantly cancels my shifts on the same day, I can finally say that I've stood up for myself and I am done with the disrespect.

    I have told them multiple times that if my shifts are going to be cancelled, I need two hours notice because I commute (drive for an hour and pay bridge tolls) and I leave 1,5 hrs before my shift starts.

    Well, I get to work today, ten minutes before my shift and I get a message that I've been taken off the schedule today. I ignored it and walked in there and told them that they know I commute and that it is so and disrespectful to try to call me off and with such short notice and I am tired of this coming back. and I'm not

    The manager texted me saying that they offer great pay and benefits, especially for someone with my experience and that I could call them back to talk it out. Manipulation after having my time disrepected?! Go F YOURSELF!

    there or not. In your case it they post the schedule and you're supposed to be there the correct response is "what text?" Beeline for the clock and punch in. If they don't pay the minimum hours you use the labor board to punch them in the nuts.

    zoebud 2011 2 days ago . I'd call the IRS and report him for misclassifying employees as 1099 contractors. (Which you aren't, btw.) As soon as they tell you which hours to work, you are a w- 2 employee. The IRS loves to nail these people.
