30 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' Book Covers from Around the Wizarding World

Long-term Potterheads recall vividly the hype when the seventh and final Harry Potter book came out in 2007. It had a midnight release, and bookstores around the world held parties with games, trivia, house sorting, costume contests, and themed snacks to await and celebrate the end of the series. Late-night shows were cracking jokes about the commotion, and it was all over the news the whole week leading up to the special day. Mary GrandPré's illustration for the seventh book, depicting a determined Harry on the front and a sinister Voldemort on the back, decorated the shelves of bookstores in North and South America for months after the book's release. The illustration was rather mysterious, giving only the most of subtle hints of the book's contents.

Around the world, publishers used different illustrators and imagery to appeal to their respective audiences. Some illustrators used unique motifs to hint at the events in the plot, and others illustrated entire scenes and specific moments from the chapters.
