Perhaps one of the most annoying developments in the workplace culture of the 2020s is companies pretending to care about your mental health. We started to have candid conversations about things like stress and burnout and then corporate culture decided to co-opt this to try and make themselves look progressive. The truth is, no amount of HR-mandated breathing exercises or free bananas in the break room are going to make a terrible job better.
It doesn't stop workplaces from trying, though, as recently seen in a hilarious thread where one employee exposed the miserable space that their company had designated as the 'wellness room' in their office. It wasn't long before people were riffing on this place that closely resembled a windowless prison cell (allegedly, it was a former storeroom). If nothing else, it is nice to see there is somewhere to get away from annoying coworkers now and then.
