What Harry Potter Spell Would Be Most Useful in Real Life? Potterheads Discuss: ‘You can make a fortune out of portkeys’

Before we get to the question that was presented in this Subreddit, I have another question – If you were the only person in the world who had magic, would you have told people, or would you have kept your abilities a secret from others?

There is a lot you can get away from if you are undetected. Transfiguration, Apparition, Portkeys, Alohomora! The world is in the palm of your hands, and nobody has to know. But, if people did know, you undeniably be the most famous person in the world, showing people the wonders of magic, curing people, and owning successful businesses that only you could operate. Sounds like a good life to me.

Setting this dilemma aside, the discussion below forms a slightly different question – If you could choose one spell, and one spell only, to use in real life, which one would you choose?

    JustineLrdl. 22 hr. ago I would definitely learn how to apparate. Do you imagine how useful it would be? You could travel at any time, on any day off you could be on a beach in a country where it is sunny, or have a nice evening in a cozy restaurant in France or Italy, a funny date somewhere else. Honestly I would only take this one, that would change my life.

    agentspanda 22 hr. ago . edited 21 hr. ago They do say apparating long distances/transcontinental or across oceans can be problematic because as a plot device it makes sense you can't just pop around the world at a whim. But turning a 1-2 week transcontinental drive or 6+ hour plane ride into a couple of split second hops over a few minutes is wildly effective.

    JustineLrdl 21 hr. ago Even despite those obstacles, you can go from one island to the other to cross the Atlantic Ocean for example, instead of being few seconds, you can make it an hour or 2, max. Still worth as you can enjoy travelling without all the fuss around it, without the jet lag, hours on a plane etc.
