. r/TrueOffMyChest ⚫ 2 c [deleted] My husband forced me to get a gym membership. "I'm tired of being the only attractive one"
  • 02
I'm 5'2 and currently 159 pounds. When I met my husband 6 years ago I was about 97 pounds. I gained a lot of weight since we met due to age and hormonal birth control. I was 21 when I met him. I also gained a lot of weight after marriage due to happy weight. I was depressed before I met him but after him and after having my family I'm so happy

having my family I'm so happy now I gained another 40 pounds after having a baby. My baby is 17 months old

For my birthday my husband got me a fancy gym membership with childcare included so I don't make up more excuses he says. He paid $50 a month for this gym membership for me. The gym has an indoor swimming pool I guess I can start swimming again. I use to like swimming when I was younger

I guess I'm also upset because | wanted to go to a nice expensive dinner for my birthday like fine dining but instead he got me flowers. I don't even like flowers, they just die. He also got me a gym membership

He said he's tired of being the only attractive one. It's true I'm ugly but it's due to me because obese. My husband is handsome and fit so he's not unattractive and saying this to me. My husband said I just got one job and that's to be pretty and thin and he's tired of having a fat wife.

I get it, it's valid not to want to stay with someone you're unattracted to but it just hurts. I did get lazier after marriage but sometimes that's life. I gained more weight after being a SAHM. My husband is also irritated. because I said driving 20 mins to the gym is going to be annoying cuz I gotta take the highway too

and the highway scares me with all these big trucks and on top of that the highway is literally always busy. Idk I just wanna vent. I'm just upset. I've struggled with my weight. I would always put off losing weight and end up giving up cuz it's too hard. Sometimes I'm so close to calling a med spa and getting on semaglutide

Special_Wishbone... • 2d ago Look, I hate the way he's talking about you, that's just mean and superficial. But I'd take the gym and use the childcare to at least have some "me" time. You can swim, or use a treadmill, listen to your music, stream a tv show, whatever. I think

putting everything he said to one side how hurtful it is, and how much you buy into it focus a little on your mental and physical health for however long the childcare will keep your kid.
  • 11
When you're in a place where you no longer hate yourself or feel too tired to think about it, come back to his comments and start figuring out if he's going to be mean if you're not "hot" enough by some physical standard and what you're going to do about it. See if

he's supportive of you as you survive the first years of having a kid, while you're at it.

syedA1512 1d ago First get your mental health sorted and then the eating habits will fall in line and the exercise jabb its will fall in line, mental health is always no. 1

3 years of family abuse has made me put on 40 LBS (stress eating was my Goto mechanism, not anymore) and I finally have my mental health under control.

On a side note, your husband maybe attractive outside, but he is ugly inside. Great personalities lift others up, not the other way around.

Kattiaria 1d ago ok first of all what he said to you isnt ok. Your job is raising your children with him. I bet you arent happy now, you sound very down on yourself. "I am a little worried about your health as you have gained weight and i dont want you to suffer from the severe side
  • 18
effects of being overweight" < he should have said something like this.

Equivalent-One-5... • 2d ago Lol this is not even close to being real. $50 a month for a "fancy" gym membership, let alone one that includes childcare? Basically every parent would get this gym membership for the childcare alone.

Surely this is written by a child with no idea of what things cost

Techno-Man99 • 1d ago I don't agree with your husband with what he said or went about it but I'm really confused on how from 21-27 you gained weight due to age? That's super young, I get having baby but you didn't gain weight due to age lol
