Have you ever had a friend group that withstood the tests of time? Yeah, me neither.

It's rare for ladies to have friendships from their childhood, at least in my experience, growing up with my female friends always seemed to be a challenge. I found myself getting cast aside by my female friends, envying the tried-and-true bromances of my guy friends. Male friendships are just easier perhaps–they simply play with fireworks together, happily grab a half-pint at their local tavern, and go on rousing journeys to quell the evils of Middle Earth.

That's where the Lord of the Rings really gets things right…

The Fellowship could never have lasted if it was a group of 9 females trying to get the Ring destroyed in Mordor. Then again, the Fellowship fell apart within a few months as the Power of the Ring dissolved everyone's honor. So maybe the friendship that we should all be coveting is not the friendship between any number of dudes, but the friendship between Frodo and Sam. Nobody does best-friendship quite like Samwise Gamgee–putting his best bud before him in all situations, protecting him, and giving him everything he needed to complete an impossible task.

We, ladies, need to get our friendship priorities in order, idealizing homies like Samwise the Brave to counter our own Master Frodo. Because when the going gets tough at the base of Mount Doom, the only one we want at our side is our best friend, carrying us up a mountain we could never climb alone.
