Pass me over for promotion? Everyone gets new appliances.
  • 03
I'm currently benefiting from some petty revenge. Basically, the management company for my apartment complex passed over the woman who'd been here for
  • 04
25 years for a new guy who doesn't know his from his elbow. One of those Neanderthal types with vacant eyes and his mouth always hanging slightly open.
  • 05
So this lovely woman now decides that her precious mission to save the company money is fruitless and will never gain her praise or compensation like she'd hoped. So, suddenly, when I
  • 06
made my fourth complaint about my dishwasher, she just ordered me a new one. A/c unit not working well? Let's get you a brand new more efficient one.
  • 07
One button on your microwave stopped working? Here's a new one. It's great and I bet they're regretting it now lol.

No_Cockroach4248 1d ago I am sure she does not need a gentle reminder to have the new guy sign off on all replacement appliances
  • 09
Butterfly21482 OP • 18h ago Except the appliances actually do need replacing. It's just that the company hasn't wanted to replace them so they do cheap fixes or no fix and say it's fine. The manger tested my a/c and it was indeed not
  • 10
working correctly. It was 15 degrees hotter in my apt than it was outside. He put the air on full blast, came back in 3 hours to use the temp gon to test again, and it hasn't gone down at all. All she's doing is making sure the check happens when it hadn't been before.

Same with my dishwasher. It has legit not been working for months and they kept giving me lame excuses and dumb non-fixes. They've also not fixed the blinds on my sliding door 3 times because the
  • 12
track itself is broken, which led to several broken blinds and the pull being bent. She just made sure they would give me a new one when I got my new dishwasher.

PatrickRsGhost • 18h ago Does your complex have an on-site community laundromat? Aren't those washers and dryers just the worst? Not really getting your clothes clean, and there's kind of a funk coming from the washers. Not to mention it takes at least three cycles for your clothes to get fully dry, and that's on a light load.
  • 14
Butterfly21482 OP • 18h ago It does and that's why I'm literally sitting at the pro laundromat down the street lol. Nothing in-unit and the machines in the basement would wash but not spin well so they were really wet and after 3
  • 15
dryer cycles they were still damp. I tried to get mini machines for in- unit use, but since the washer was large, it got delivered to the office and when I went to pick it up, they reminded me it was against my lease. All it said was "you can't add
  • 16
anything to the apartment home without management approval” but I honestly didn't think it would include stuff like that, I thought it meant like permanent changes to the unit. So I returned them. Bummer.

HMS_Slartibartfast · 1d ago Please check to see if she is setting her boss up to take the fall for this. If so, she should make SURE everyone knows "New boss want's everything back in shape!"

Will help when owners come asking why budget is blown. She (and all the tenants) will point at new boss, hopefully shielding her from problems.

jimbobbjesus • 20h ago I did something similar when I was in an apartment. I was moving from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom. The ceiling fan in the 2 bedroom was all wobbly. I asked them if they would look into it and they told me no. Fine I swapped it with the one from the one bedroom.

Personal-Heart-1227 • 1d ago Please tell her, from now on to follow her Job Description & nothing else... They obviously don't care about her, her loyalty as their 25 year
  • 22
Employee or that fact she was a hard working Staff (or should I say working stiff) for them, either. If she can get you better upgrades, freebies & goodies from your idiot Landlord, then tell her please & thank you, very much!
  • 23
Around the Holidays, make sure to personally hand her some nice & thoughtful gifts (Gift Cards, wine, tea, books) for looking out for you & your Unit, too. That's a win-win situation in my books!

TreeClimberArborist • 19h ago People forget the path to promotion is not time or hard work. The true path, is it's ALL a popularity contest. All of it. Being friendly, smiling a lot, being psychically attractive to look at, and actively making people like you, will get you further in life than anything.
  • 25
hugothebear • 14h ago Another way to look at it is that she had to power to fix the issues all along and didnt. Now she's keeping tenants happy, more likely to stay, and likely to give positive word of mouth about the property.

Glittering_Chemist86 • 18h ago How comes people act as if that lady is some kind of nice and friendly underdog? She "saved" money by purposefully not helping the people and by not doing her duties. She mostly deserves this even?
  • 27
    • gbomber 14h ago Maybe her new boss told her to stop doing everything she could to not fix things. That could be why she was passed over for promotion.
  • 28
HoraceorDoris • 22h ago This is all well and good until the management company increases your annual fees to claw back some of the money. Plus, once it's recovered, the costs will not reduce. She's getting her petty revenge with YOUR money &
  • 29
nobody-u-heard-of • 18h ago That type of thing leads to happy tenants. Happy tenants stay. And long term she could be actually saving them money.
