The brother and sister in this next story have certainly flushed out which of them is the family favorite, using parental allowances to fiscally measure their worth.

While the two siblings were still in high school, their parents created a caretaking pact that would carve out their prospective futures nicely if followed to the tee. The daughter agreed to get a job, live from home for free, and go to an affordable community college down the street. Per the terms of her parental agreement, she was in the clear to live rent-free at home at no cost to her parents. Her brother, on the other hand, decided not to honor the pact. He didn't feel like putting in the hard work of going to community college and decided to move out to an expensive apartment just before losing his job and enrolling in a far more expensive university.

The daughter was debt-free and working her way through school, while the son was getting his $2100 rent paid for by Mommy and Daddy, begging for allowance money and his tuition payments. However, when the parents came into a tight spot money-wise, they decided not to cut off their freeloading son, but to demand their hardworking daughter start paying them rent to subsidize his lifestyle. Talk about blatant favoritism.
