They say that The Beautiful Game is soccer, but I say it's Dungeons and Dragons. In what other game do you get to transform into a radically different being? Sure, when you play Monopoly you can pretend you're a thimble or an old shoe, but that can only get you so far. When you're playing a POV video game, you might feel like you're living out the life of your chosen character. When you're playing Connect Four, you might feel like you've transformed into one of those little plastic tokens.
But when you're deep in a DnD role-play session, you ARE that character. You inhabit them, make decisions as them, think how they might think, and do what they might do. It's a wonderful way to escape from your own brain every now and again. And it's also a wonderful meme subgenre. And that's what we're here to celebrate today.
