Before the summer is out, let me put forth a simple ode to corn. It's our nation's greatest product. Taken simply grilled, with butter and salt, a cob of corn is summer perfection in each juicy bite. And the way you go about eating corn on the cob can tell you a lot about a person. Sporadic, with no rhyme or reason- an artistic soul if I've ever seen one. Row by row, left to right- an organized go-getter. Top to bottom- either a generation's greatest mind or a budding psychopath. The next time you're at a barbecue, pay close mind. It's more reliable than Myers-Briggs.
Corn and the Midwest obviously go hand in hand. If you've ever driven through the Midwest, you know just how many acres there are of the starchy yellow plant. If you've ever rummaged through a Midwesterner's drawers, you're sure to find cleverly designed corn-shaped spears for holding onto cobbed corn. And if you look in a Midwest meme list, you're bound to find a meme or two about corn. Maybe.
