Welcome, anime fans and stans. We've all wondered what anime characters would look like if they were 3D instead of 2D. Of course, there are cosplayers that can accurately capture the essence of an anime character, but more often than not, they do just look like a person in a costume. There are also live action anime adaptations, but because it is much more important to find someone who can act well, rather than someone who just visually looks like the character, they end up feeling more like an alternate universe version of the character rather than one who was brought to life from the anime realm.
There are also tons and tons of AI-generated images of photo-realistic interpretations of anime characters, but they they oftentimes end up looking quite generic. Digital artist Angel Shefford uses a unique combination of artificial intelligence and Photoshop to translate each anime character's unique features to real human features, stitch them together, and bring them to life. Scroll down below and peruse a small collection of her incredibly accurate work.
