Having a conversation with your boss asking for a raise is something employees should seriously prepare for, and not take lightly. One should come with receipts and proof of all the hard work they've been putting into the company, while also providing data that supports their claim for more pay. The more prepared you are for this conversation, the higher your chances of actually getting what you are after.

Even so, many employees get denied when asking for a raise, and then they have to decide their next move regarding their position in the company. For some, getting turned down means they will be looking for what they ask for in a different workplace, so they embark on a job search journey.

The employee in this Reddit story was disappointed after being denied a raise, as they felt like they were working way above their pay grade. That is why they decided only to do the job they were paid to do, and not take on more responsibilities.     matchamagpie • 5d ago Next time, quietly start looking for other positions. Raising a big stink doesn't help you, it just signals to the employer that you are now a liability to them. It's a tough market out there, you'll likely need much more than 2 weeks to score interviews. Just keep at it and keep a cool head next time.
