What a weird little film Beetlejuice was, huh? When you think back on it, you remember Michael Keaton's energetic performance, the bizarre musical numbers, sandworms, and dead people. But if you stop and really think about the plot, it gets pretty wild. It's about a young married couple who can't have a child, then die in an accident and become ghosts in their own home. A family moves in, and the child feels invisible to her parents, eventually getting "adopted" by the dead couple.
Then, because the dead couple refuses to move on, they summon a demon who tries to marry the child, while her parents attempt to exorcise the couple. Like I said—very weird, but also very awesome. Who would've thought that 35 years later, we'd get a sequel?
