Cats are adorable. That's a fact. Old people are adorable. Also a fact, and we refuse to hear otherwise. And because the previous two statements are true, it stands to reason that if you have an elderly person and a cat in one story, that story contains double the adorableness. Like- have you seen the video of the grandpa and his cat matching overalls? Or the elderly woman and her massive Maine Coon cat who is obviously obsessed with her? And what about that one adorable video of an elderly couple saving a kitten in the rain?
All of that just makes us wish that the elderly people and their pets get as much time together as possible. Still, we know that when it comes to elderly people, there's always a chance that they might pass on before their pets do. After that, it become a question of: where does the cat go? And we wish all of those stories ended the way this one did.

This is the kind of wholesome, happy story that we wanted to hear today. It's a devastating loss, of course, and we send our condolences. We just have to say that we are thankful this grandchild took their grandfather's cat in, because a lot of people wouldn't have, and the cat would have ended up in the system, alone.
Now, this cutie patootie, difficult as the change must be for her, has a home - with someone that she most likely knew, someone who clearly loves her and will cherish her, both for what she is and for the memory of the person that she belonged to. A bitter-sweet story, certainly, but we think it's mostly on the sweet side.
