Kautzmania @kautzmania • 3d Replying to @tremendouslybig Growing up in North Dakota in the 80s, my first escalator was the little airport and I couldn't get enough of it. Distinct early memory of that escalator. Running up and down over and over, even how it smelled.

Ari @Remorseless Fang 5d . Replying to @tremendouslybig First time I saw an escalator was at a mall and there was a big red button at the bottom of it, so obviously I pressed it and the escalator stopped, and my dad was like "we gotta get out of here" so we ran back to the car and went home.

Allison @FireflyAllie 4d Replying to @tremendouslybig I grew up in a town without escalators and it was really exciting to get to go to a big city and see them. I'm in my 30s and I still am more hesitant stepping on them than most people

    • kira @no__kira · 4d Replying to @tremendouslybig The sad part is that, pretty often, both of the escalators don't work. So essentially they are just ultra fancy stairs

Joe Patrick @projoepat 3d • Replying to @tremendouslybig I grew up in Wyoming, and escalators are still cool to me lol. What's even more cool is in later years I worked at a museum in SLC Utah, and one day we got to see a group of 20 kids who had just immigrated to the US absolutely freak out over our escalators, it was adorable!
