Raise your hand if your mom wouldn't let you go to concerts when you were younger.
Your friends would get invited to some underground show, they had an older cousin who would drive everybody, and you finally mastered the perfect way to put safety pins in a thrifted denim jacket–you were ready. But Mom just wasn't. It's too bad young metal fans were just as capable of sneaking out of the house as they were at getting straight A's. Some people just have a knack for being a huge, bumbling heavy metal nerd.
But ultimately, every metalhead is a softie at heart. We may scream about our thirst for blood, the rot of society, and the cancerous toll of partying, but think about it, have you ever met a metal music fan who wouldn't instantly pick you up if you fell in the pit? We're all just Lord of the Rings fans living out our Saruman lead singer fantasy.
So even if you're clumsy in the mosh or scared to crowd surf, there's a place for you amongst the metal fans, because we all remember our first mosh. It's epic, it changes you, and suddenly it's not about what Mom thinks of your music taste, it's about how the riffs, the drop, and the Wall of Death make you feel.
