‘We had the place gutted’: Evil landlord doubles rent for commercial space, so tenants remove all of their renovations resulting in the landlord's eventual real estate blacklisting

Landlords get a bad rep. That's likely because the majority of landlords make it obvious that they don't care about the tenants they rent to. Though owning and renting out real estate is integral to keeping the economy running smoothly, it's only a matter of time before the tenants who get scorned decide to retaliate. If you're a renter, commercial or residential alike, it's likely that you have an evil landlord story yourself. Yeah, yeah. We know that landlords have to keep up with the times during inflation periods, but doubling the rent with little to no warning warrants some petty revenge.

The original poster (OP) of this story states that they own a dance studio, and use a commercial rental for their business. Their landlord doubled the rent when it came time to resign a new lease, a sum that was outrageous to them. The OP expresses that through their leasing contract, they were able to remove all personal renovations they paid for while renting out the space. The best part was that the landlord posted online pictures of the dance studio, as it existed with the renovations. So, the OP gutted the space and removed what made the listing so alluring.
