An essential part of DnD is improv. You have to think on your feet, respond to your teammates, and come together to build something. If you've ever done improv comedy or jazz or… devised theatre, you'd probably be pretty well suited for Dungeons and Dragons. It's like all of those things, plus dragons. 

But the key difference is that you don't have to do it in front of an audience. Your only audience is your fellow party members who are right in there with you. So for people with stage fright or just no desire to perform, DnD is perfect for you. You get to release your creative juices without the pressure of having it be seen by a group of people. In a way, it's like a coven. You're in it together with your teammates, and what you do in the room stays in the room. And then you can send each other memes about it later.
