Let this story serve as a friendly reminder that your coworkers are not required to go out of their way for you. Here, we have a selfish employee who announced her retirement six months before her last day on the job. She assumed that her "work bestie" would organize a going-away party for her based on the fact that she always is forced to organize work-related events (despite the fact that this, of course, has absolutely nothing to do with her actual job responsibilities).

In fact, what this selfish coworker did not realize was that the Redditor took offense to the fact that she didn't return the favor when it was the Redditor's own birthday, especially after all the work events she had organized in the past. Between that and the fact that the selfish coworker assumed it was her work bestie's responsibility to create some grand exit, the original poster (OP) decided that enough was enough.
